Carter-Weaver Scholarship

2026 Applications Are Now Open!

The Carter-Weaver Scholarship Program is a signature initiative of the Los Angeles South Bay Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The program supports graduating high school seniors as they pursue higher education and long-term academic success.
Scholarship funds are generated through the Chapter’s annual fundraising efforts and are supported in partnership with the Julia Banks Williams Delta Associates Foundation. To date, the Chapter has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to students across the South Bay community.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Graduating high school seniors
  • Reside in or attend school within the Chapter’s South Bay service area, including:
  • Los Angeles, Carson, Gardena, Torrance, Wilmington, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Compton, San Pedro, Long Beach, and South Central Los Angeles
  • Plan to enroll in college in the fall immediately following graduation
  • Have a minimum cumulative “C” GPA
  • Note: Children of Los Angeles South Bay Alumnae Chapter members are not eligible
High Level Scholarship Details
  • One-time scholarship award
  • Funds may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, meals, and transportation
  • Applicants must submit a complete application package by the stated deadline to be considered
